In honor of Blues Pioneer Sleepy John Estes' birthday, join us for Sleepy John's birthday celebration at the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center in Brownsville TN.
We’ll have a discussion of Fife & Drum tradition in West Tennessee followed by a book signing with John Shaw, author of Following the Drums: African American Fife and Drum Music in Tennessee, birthday cake, and an acoustic Blues jam session. You’ll also have a chance to visit Sleepy's last home located on site.

Schedule:
11 am: Author John Shaw discusses Fife and Drum traditions in TN and signs copies of his new book, Following the Drums: African American Fife and Drum Music in Tennessee.
12:30 pm: Lunch Break & Birthday Cake. Explore Sleepy's last home and discuss the Country Blues with fellow enthusiasts in an informal setting.
2 pm: A Musical Salute to Sleepy John. Bring your instruments, your voice or just your love of the music and join our open Acoustic Blues Jam Circle - a completely acoustic music circle honoring the old traditions of playing music on the porch or at house parties.
